My Tv Will Turn On, Then Turn Off And Then Turn Back On. What's Wrong With It?

Each time I try to turn my TV on, it turns on for a second and then goes black. If I try to turn it back on, it does the same thing over and over again. I have to do this process multiple times before finally getting it to stay on but sometimes, after I get it to stay on, there will be picture but no sound. What's wrong with it?
