No Power From Foot Pedal

I have a 1975 PFAFF Synchromatic machine. Works great, but I have had intermittent problems with lack of power when I depress the floor pedal. A good shake or smack to the pedal has always "fixed" the problem, but today it finally quit for good. There is good power from the outlet to the machine, but nothing from the floor pedal to the machine. I have opened up the pedal and cannot find anything broken or loose. Any hints on what the problem is? If the solution is a new lecrical cord/ffloor pedal, where can I buy one?
