First check all this

May I ask:
1) What phone service provider (phone company) you have for this phone line?

2) WHEN did this issue first begin (or was noticed)?

3) If you have ANY other devices (phones, fax, alarm system, etc.) attached to this same phone line (not part of the cordless system)?

OK - can you do a quick TEST for me?

That TEST would be to pick up any handset (while not on a call) and press the TALK button, then QUICKLY listen for the dial tone.

Can you tell me if you hear a few "beeps' or a "pulsed" dial tone, and then a clear & steady dial to

If yes than

OK - what that tells us is that your service provider is sending that "signal" (the quick beeps) to the phones that are connected in your home - to tell them there is a "Voice Mail" system active and either a NEW message is waiting OR the system needs some attention.

PLEASE NOTE: This "Voice Mail" system is DIFFERENT and SEPARATE from the built-in "Answering system" of the Panasonic.

So were you aware that this Voice Mail system was active, and have you used it in the past (instead of the Panasonic Answering System)?

If not, then you will want to contact the provider and have the Voice Mail system turned OFF, or otherwise configured so that the Panasonic Answering system has a chance to record any messages that come in while you are away or can not reach the phone.

Thanks
