Adjusting the aspect ratio of your TV (or connected external device such as a set-top-box) can resolve the issue of black bars showing on the left and right sides of the picture.Jun 3, 2020

Removing Black Bars

Check your high-definition TV remote control while you're playing the movie to see if there's an aspect ratio control available. Set it to "Full Screen" mode or something similar. ...

The black colour bands on the sides appear because of the differences between the aspect ratio of the incoming signal and the aspect ratio (screen size) of your TV. For example, your wide screen TV has an aspect ratio of 16:9, while the incoming signal has an aspect ratio of 4:3, the additional space will be covered by black bars.
Adjusting the aspect ratio of your TV (or connected external device such as a set-top-box) can resolve the issue of black bars showing on the left and right sides of the picture.
