Hello. I am an Oki Data helpdesk technician from Oki Data America's.
Fatal error 231 is a Toner TAG(EEPROM) Reader I/F Error. This means there is an issue with the printer reading the installed toner. Are you using genuine Oki toners or third party generics? Also have you recently replaced the toners?
If using oki genuine toner or no new toner was installed recently, then turn the printer OFF and disconnect the data cable. Remove and reinstall all toners in the machine. Turn the printer back ON without the data cable connected to see if the error clears. If you are still having an issue it might be best to call Customer Support. 1-800-654-3282
