My Nissan Xterra Is Running Hot.

My car has 256,000 miles, it is running hot. It has fluid in the radiator and in the back flow. It only runs hot when I am at a stand still, but fine as long as I am moving. What could be the problem? It does not appear to have any leaks. 2. What type of transmission should I use?
