If you open up the small latch on the front of the Wii, located just under the "reset" button, there will be a small red button. You will also find an identical red button on the Wii mote, when the battery section is opened.  When the Wii is on, press the two red buttons simultaneously.  The four lights on the bottom of the Wii mote will flash and it should make a little noise, the first light should be lit up blue, and the Wii mote should be connected.  If none of this works, check to make sure the batteries are good.  To check this, press any button on the Wii mote.  If the batteries are good, the lights on the bottom of the Wii mote will flash bright blue.  If the lights are dim, the batteries don't have much juice left, and if the lights don't go on at all, the batteries are dead. Hope this helps!! :)
