What operating system are you using? Windows, Linux, Mac OS? Each connects differently.
I'll assume Windows 7 since that is the most common at this time and that the access point is already configured. Click Start->Control Panel->Network and Internet. Click on "Network and Sharing Center", then "Connect to a network". A box will pop up from the system tray (lower right corner of the task bar near the clock).
From here you can add the wifi. Locate the access point to connect to, right click it and select "Connect". Follow the instructions to add the password (pass-phrase) and security settings.
You should now be connected.
If the access point is new you'll need to step through the setup as defined in the user manual. You can download it here: http://www.helpowl.com/manuals/Netgear/WNR1000v2/61121
There are too many options available for me to walk you through them all. The user guide is pretty good. Just follow it and it will get you up and running.
