99' Montero Sport

My Montero sport. Runs hot but not leaking nor smoking from that. My battery light and brake light comes on when I press the gas and the thermostat goes up to hot. When I press the brake it's goes back to normal Temp and the battery and brake light goes off. The battery itself seems like it's leaking liquid acid or something it has a funky smell. Do Yu have any idea what could be going on
