Unreliable Washing Time

The washer sometimes significantly exceeds the originally estimated time, even seemed to stuck, as the time didn't change at all even during 15 min watching. The next time the same program worked fine. I suspect the unreliable "sensing" and then maybe excessive water level setting. Can you give me an advice whether there is something what I (as an retired electronic engineer) could do with this?Thank you in advance for your help.Regards,Peter
