Restarting My Washer.

My washer was not in use for over two months because of moving. Now it is hooked up again and I pressed the power button and added a refresh tablet to clean it first. I pressed the Refresh button and it keeps flashing for about a minute, then it starts up only to turn off the power and cycle again. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to hold the power button for awhile until I press the cycle button?.
