Acid Smell In Fridge And Freezer

I have a nasty acid smell in my fridge and freezer it is a Maytag French Door, freezer on bottom. The smell will take your breath, it has even gotten into all my food. What causes this smell and what can be done about it was, the fridge is only 2 years old.
