Stops/pauses Mid-cycle. Have To Press Start To Have It Pick Up Where It Left Off

My Maytag front loader will sometimes stop/pause during a washing cycle.  The machine will beep, the time will start blinking, the machine stops and will not restart until I press/hold in start.  Sometimes it doesn't do it at all during a washing cycle.....other times it happens a lot during one washing cycle.
