Old Phone Number - Cancel Existing Phone Service

I purchased majic jack (not majic jack plus) last year but never connected it to my computer because i was waiting for the option to keep my old phone number. now that the option is available, how do i access it? also, i have my current phone service with my internet provider. do i have to cancel my old phone service first in order to use my majic jack? thank you

After logging in, click the "My Subscriptions" tab, and then the "Details" button under "Transfer Your Phone Number to magicJack." Follow the prompts to submit your transfer request. There will be a fee of about $20.00.

You need to know that not all numbers are transferable to magicJack. Here's a lengthy list of supported area codes. Here's a longer list that includes local prefixes.

If your old phone number is not transferable, you can return your device per these instructions (or if you bought it from a retailer, return it there).

You need not cancel your current phone service.

Never cancel the old/existing phone number service for the number to be ported until the number has been ported successfully.

Remember that magicJack does charge a port in and port out fee. And rumor has it that you will be changed not just a one-time fee but an annual (extra) fee for your ported-in number.

Do you have magicJack Plus? This is the porting-in phone subsciption. Go to the FAQ page and type in PORTING IN for more information from the source. Have your speakers on.
