Convert A Land Line Into Complete Magic Jack Line? Wires To Cut Etc. Details?

Incoming ATT phone line. Thinking of dropping AT&T and maintaining same number. I am with ATTUverse for TV and Internet. Need detailed info on how to do this smoothly w/o problems. I Just received the new MagicJack Plus. My modem is att Uverse model 3801HGV w/ethernet port.If there is a website to get this info please inform. Thank you.

There should not be any wires to cut. Here's the information:

Setup with computer:

Plug the magicJack into a free USB port, and then plug your phone line into the magicJack. The magicJack comes with a 6-inch USB extension cable in case it interferes with other devices plugged into your USB ports.

Setup without computer:

The magicJack Plus device plugs into the AC adapter, which plugs into the AC outlet. On the left of the unit you have a socket for the phone cable and one for the LAN cable. Or you could run the LAN cable from your router or switch.

To keep your current phone number:

After logging in, click the "My Subscriptions" tab, and then the "Details" button under "Transfer Your Phone Number to magicJack." Follow the prompts to submit your transfer request. There will be a fee of about $20.00.

You need to know that not all numbers are transferable to magicJack. Here's a lengthy list of supported area codes. Here's a longer list that includes local prefixes.

If your old phone number is not transferable, you can return your device per these instructions (or if you bought it from a retailer, return it there).
