Television Channal Set Up

the TV is to be used only with a dvd or vhs player. There is no antenae or cable conection. Tried to get chanaal 3 to mate with the player but there are no programed channals. The auto select part of the menu does not add any channals. How do you over ride and select a channal wiht a input from the antenae or cable.
