That is no small question.

The most secure way is to not turn on wireless, but that's not what you want to hear.

You need to understand what options are available. That takes more space and time than we have here.

In brief, you need to set up connection security using WPA. This assigns an encrypted password to the network. You can also set time limits on when the wifi is available and restrict it to only specific wireless devices.

Then go get the user guide for the router you plan to use and follow the setup instructions. There will be plenty of step-by-step setup guides on the Internet. Just do a few Google searches. I can't go into detail here since you didn't say what router you plan to use.
