Lg Wm2501hva Washer Power Problems

My washer freezes every other load and does not respond to button pushing and the light stays on. Unit needs to be unplugged to reset and then will run about 2 cycles and repeat the problem. I already replaced the control panel and it is doing the same thing. Every once in awhile it will trip the GFCI indicating a possible short somewhere. When power is restored the unit operates correctly until the problem reoccurs a couple loads later. I do have good electrical ability but nothing is jumping out at me with a visual inspection. Any help would be appreciated.
