Had the same problem......appears to be the connectors to the front control panel. Sometimes you can get a restart by simply turning off the breaker for 30 secs and you can get one or more restarts. But the next time it happens it may be the front panel connector(s) and the circuits are not reading that the start button has been pressed.

This worked for me........got the tip from another posting. If a power off restart works for just one or two cycles before a repeat you might try this:

Turn off power, remove 2 lower screws on back and top slides back & lifts off. Three plastric connectors near the front of the machine connect the control panel.....opened and closed the connectors about 3 times each and was able to get 50 or more start cycles.......happened again and the next time I used contact cleaner on the 3 sets of connectors on leads going to the  front panel and cycled them about ten times each......been running fine for over a year, 200+ cycles.

A washer with a warm humid environment is not ideal for low voltage electrical push connections and even a minor amount of corrosion can cause a problem....would have liked gold plated connectors......but it may just be a matter of time before it needs anoither new redo. Of course automatically replacing the control board may work also because you have a new set of connectors. I'd rather keep cleaning the connectors than buy a new control panel which will probably fail the same way with time.

This problem may have no permanent fix.I found that there is a $250 fix that lasts 2-3 years and a $2 fix that lasts almost 2 years. In my case the problem was first fixed by replacing the front control panel, but that is not the real (whole) problem since it happened again 2 yewars later....ithe real problem appears to be the contacts on the 3 plugs feeding the control panel. The control panel may still be good and replaced unnecessarily. Caostly, but no better than a cheap fix.  Make sure to unplug the machine first or shut off the circuit breaker then remove the two screws on the back.....the top cover pushes back and lifts off. The 3 wiring connectors are up front behind the front control panel held loosely by two plastic holders and easily disconnected using only your hands. Do not unplug them further from the control panel itself. Replacing the display panel will get it up and running because you are unplugging the 3 connectors and replacing half with new connectors on the new display panel.......but plugging and unplugging the three connectors will get it up an running for about 50-100 starts.  I unplug the connectors, use spray contact cleaner on the contacts plug and unplug a few times to get a good contact and you're good for almost 2 years. It appears the contacts do not like the high temperature and humidity environment and you get a micro build up of oxide that causes the problem, but can briefly removed....longer if you clean them.....the next time I will use the grease used on automotive connectors to provide an airtight seal which works well in an outside environment. Try the cheap fix first.
