Lg Lsu093he Heater/ Air Conditioner Heat Will Not Turn On

We have a lg lsu093 unit. The unit is less than a year old. Tody, we turned the heater on for the first time this year. The unit displays the defroster symbol/ hot start symbol on the display then the unit cuts off. what is causing this?
