Flange Defect

Flange that attaches exhaust hose to rear of appliance allows hose to fall off frequently, & then area around a/c unit super-heats very quickly. We have duct taped the hose on but I'm afraid this is a fire hazard. Other than that the unit works much better than our Maytag a/c unit did. Is there a fix for this?
