Drives Are Not Reading The Disk! What Did I Do Wrong?

I just installed 2 - LG GH24NS70 CD/DVD drives on my IDE computer. It had 2 drives previously. I am running Windows XP. Since the drives are SATA, I got 2 Sabrent IDE host controller converter adapters. They are bridge boards that fit on to the back of the drive. The serial port and the power plug fit into it. It is a converter from IDE to SATA. The drives open and close when you hit the button, but the computer does not read the DVD. What did I do wrong?????? Thanks!

The cd player will open & close as long as it has power. The data read error is caused by a poor connection with the sata cable or a failure of your conversion adapter. Check all connections. I hope it helps. Good luck!
