Why It Drains Batteries Fast And Time And Date Needs To Be Set Each Battery Chan

just wondering what is causing a new camera not to save date and time between battery changes and why 2500 mah energizer rechargeables only last like 100 shots.  the date and time have to be set even if batteries are chnaged in seconds after old ones are taken out
