Dishwasher Doesn't Rinse Soap Out Of Machine

We have learned not to use a lot of soap to wash our dishes.  However, we use 1/4 of what is suggested and the dishwasher still does not go through the rinse cycle properly.  When we run it with out using any soap, we have to run it 3-4 times before the soap is completely out of the machine.  We are using a rinse aid and our water is hot. What can we do to correct this problem?  The dishes appear clean, but with the amount of soap that still is in the machine we know they aren't properly rinsed.
