Why Can I Shut Off The Shabbat Mode On My Brand New Oven By Pressing Cancel?

The manual states that only the start and number buttons will function when in Shabbat Mode but I can shut the oven off by pressing cancel.  Also, the manual states that there will be no messages during shabbat mode, but my oven has a very long, continuously scrolling message about how to turn off shabbat mode or change temps on holidays.  Is there something wrong with my particular oven, or is the manual incorrect, or is it a design flaw?
