How did I get the protect mode off of my Kenwood Excelon kdc- x995 car stereo

According to Kenwood, that function is activated when the speaker wire has a short-circuit or touches the chassis of the vehicle, To deactivate it you must wire or insulate the speaker cable properly and press the reset button. It's possible you'll need professional help.
