Constant Resetting Required For My Excelon Kdc X797

I installed the Kenwood Excelon KDC X797 in my 1996 Mercedes SL 500 and after shutting down the motor and restarting the motor the radio will not power up (about 1/2 the time). Then I have to remove the face plate and reset the radio. Why does this happen?
