I Have The Kenmore Elite Smartwasher Quietpak 4 He3t Front Loader Washer Machine

For some reason every time I do a wash, after cylce is done, my tray that holds the fabric softener is filled up with water. I've pulled out the tray, soaked it and scrubbed it trying to find any blockages in that would keep water in it and can't find anything plugged. My husband has cleaned inside the machine where tray sits trying to unblock anything that might be. Why would only the fabric softener tray fill up w/ water and not the detergent side? And why is it happening every time i use. I have to pull it out and empty it and spill water everywhere's each time.
