Smell From Sears Refrigerator

Have an Elite 3 door refrigerator that has been great for us, with one exception. Every so often, the unit stinks up the kitchen, with a stagnant water smell. I dont see a drain pan on the unit? The smell seems to be most noticeable when the fan kicks on in the compressor -evaporator area, thus blowing the smell into my world. The smell is not coming from the inside of the unit. Can you advise on this issue?
