Old Exd Hd Data Disappears
I have owned an IOMEGA ext HD for many years. I've been using it for backups as recent as a few weeks ago. While working another problem, I disconnected drive and put it aside. Now I cannot use the drive on my desktop or laptop. Took to Geek Squad. They said it is empty. Where did the data suddenly go ? Any ideas. They said to reformat, but that would lose my data and how when it doesn't show up in Windows 10 ? Thanks

Does the drive spin up? If you can verify that the drive is spinning then it may be a problem with the power supply as I suspect the drive requires +12v and +5v and if the +5v rail has gone then the drive wont be seen. If you have a multimeter then you can test the power supply but only when the drive is connected, as off load the voltages may be OK but when trying to drive the disk they cannot supply enough power. Dis-assembly will be required to do this.
