A Hyundai Dealer Says A 2010 Genesis W/ 18k Miles = No Warranty?

My understanding is that the balance of any manufacturer warranty shoul convey.  The salesman says they have to perform a $800 certification to convey the warranty.  This doesn't sound right to me.  Help.
