I Have The 775ex Model That Won't Start.

I have the 775EX model and my son over filled it with oil while I was at work because he thought it was low and by over filled I mean halfway up the filler tube. He then proceeded to fill the fuel tank with the 50/1 trimmer fuel and attempted to start it until he gave up. When I first saw it there was oil dripping from the exhaust. I have pulled the spark plug drained the oil nd replaced to the correct level drained the fuel and carburetor bowl added a small amount of fresh fuel through the spark plug hole and flushed the combustion chamber. I replaced the spark plug, air filter and put fresh fuel in. The engine started but only for a couple of seconds then died I'm assuming due to the fuel I added to the chamber through the spark plug hole. Repeated the process several times with the same results. Then removed the carburetor thinking it might be clogged up but was in pristine condition with no sign of any corrosion and all passages clean. Could a faulty thermostat for the auto choke possibly be the reason it still will not start?
