Chain Problem

I am a female user and I'm having problems keeping the 18" chain on the bar. I purchased 2 new husqvarna chains, used each just once, and both jumped the par and ruined the chains. The tension adjuster does not keep the chains tight, and cannot be adjusted to do this. What do you suggest?
