Flashing 2 Error Code On Thermostat

My thermostat is flashing the #2 I have hit the reset, changed out the battery- but the heat will not come on. You can here a click on the unit when it's turned on but and pilot ignite but the heater does not kick on

Lets try this: take the front part of the thermostat off the wall, loose from the back part and wiring.

Take the batteries out of the thermostat (if applicable) and lets leave it off the wall with no batteries for 20 minutes or so, then put fresh batteries in and remount.

Let me know if display still flashes 2.
