Huawei E182e Download Speed Always Below 1 Mbps
Why has the download speed of my Huawei e182e always been below 1 Mbps, sometimes even down below 100 Kbps? It claims to be up to 21 Mbps, and I expect it to be at least 5-10 Mbps.
I use it on my Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 64 bits, right in a residential area in Vancouver south, BC.
It was installed by Telusmobility in December 2009. Last year, I updated the sofeware to 13.001.08.05.464, and firmware to 11.831.06.01.464, but have seen no improvement.
Telusmobility staff only say the slow speed can be due to many reasons: location, websites etc, but nothing to do with their 3G connections.
Telusmobility asks me to upgrade to 4G connections, which can go up to 50 Mbps. I don't think it will make any difference if 21 Mbps via 3G results below 1 Mbps.
Can Huawei diagnose the problem and offer a solution, please?
Thank you.

This is the answers posted at Telusmobility site, URL here: http://www.telusmobility.com/en/BC/huawei_e182e_sup/trouble03.shtml
but it doesn't help to solve the problem -
Troubleshooting: My Data transfer is very slow Resolution:
- Some buildings are steel-framed structures. The steel in such buildings may interfere with your network’s radio signals, causing a slower data transmission rate. Try moving your computer to different locations in the building to see if performance improves.
- You have moved from 3G to 2G coverage. The type of coverage is indicated in the signal strength meter. As 3G network provides better data connection, move back to 3G coverage if possible.
- Your laptop is connected to another Local Area Network connection. This occurs if you insert your laptop into a docking station that has an active Ethernet port while your Data Card is still active and connected.
- Your wireless LAN is switched on and active. Because your system has to handle two active network connections, the connection may become slow.
