Clear Tube
there's a clear tube going from the recovery tank side to the other. What does it plug into or does it go down a hole. To no where?

The clear tube on the Hoover FH11100 carpet cleaner is called the "dirty water return tube" and it runs from the recovery tank to the base of the cleaner where it connects to the suction nozzle. The nozzle is located on the underside of the machine and is responsible for picking up the dirty water and debris from your carpet.
The dirty water return tube should be inserted into the hole on the bottom of the suction nozzle until it clicks into place. This ensures that the suction from the nozzle is strong enough to pick up the dirty water and debris and send it through the tube and into the recovery tank.
If the dirty water return tube is not properly connected to the suction nozzle, the cleaner will not be able to effectively pick up the dirty water and debris from your carpet. This can result in poor cleaning performance and leave your carpets looking dirty or streaky.
To ensure proper function of your Hoover FH11100 carpet cleaner, make sure the dirty water return tube is inserted securely into the hole on the suction nozzle before each use.
