If your Hoover BH52200 battery vacuum won't take a charge even though the red light comes on, it's possible that the battery or the charger is malfunctioning. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

Make sure the battery is properly inserted into the vacuum and that the charger is plugged into a working outlet.

Check the battery contacts on both the vacuum and the charger to ensure they are clean and free from debris.

Try charging the battery for a longer period of time, as it may need a more extended charging time if it's been discharged completely.

If the battery still won't charge, try using a different charger to determine if the problem is with the charger itself.

If none of the above steps work, it may be time to replace the battery. Contact the Hoover customer service to order a new battery or inquire about any warranty or repair options.
