Blinking Red 'fan' Light In Right Hand Corner
Started getting what looks like a blinking fan light in the right hand corner of the thermostat. Also, when this happens, the unit goes out of permanent hold and into a program mode on its own. We keep it in permanent hold as our installer told us not to change temp. more than 2 degrees at a time because of the heat pump.

The blinking red LED is an error code coming from the equipment that the thermostat is controlling. I have a Coleman Heat Pump and the the LED was blinking 3 times. I checked the Heat Pump manual and it says that it will send codes (blinking) to the thermostat to be displayed. In my case, 3 blinks meant a "hard lockout" and said to cycle the power on the heat pump. I did this and the blinking stopped.
