My Thermostat Keeps Resetting The Heat Temperature To 40 Degrees F.

Woke up cold this morning. The thermostat was set on 40 degrees. It was 51 in the room. No one admits to changing it. Reset it, and the temperature went back up to 67. Later I took a nap and woke up thinking it was cold again. Lo and behold, the temp was set at 40 again.

If your Honeywell TH5220D1003 thermostat keeps resetting the heat temperature to 40 degrees Fahrenheit, there may be a few possible causes. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:
  1. Check the thermostat settings: Make sure that the temperature settings on your thermostat are set correctly. Check that the desired temperature is set to a higher temperature than 40 degrees Fahrenheit. If the settings are correct, proceed to the next step.
  2. Check the wiring: Check that the wiring is connected properly and securely. Loose wiring connections can cause the thermostat to malfunction. If the wiring is loose, tighten the connections and test the thermostat again.
  3. Check the thermostat location: Make sure that the thermostat is not located in a spot that is affected by drafts, direct sunlight, or other sources of heat. This can cause the thermostat to read the wrong temperature and adjust the settings incorrectly.
  4. Replace the batteries: If the thermostat is battery-operated, try replacing the batteries with fresh ones. Weak or dead batteries can cause the thermostat to malfunction.
  5. Reset the thermostat: Try resetting the thermostat to its default settings. Refer to the user manual for instructions on how to do this.

If none of these steps solve the issue, it may be time to consider replacing the thermostat.
