How To Clean Printheads In Hp 5520 Printer

1) Lift lid to access ink cartridges

2) Turn off printer at mains

3) Remove the inks

3) Put dry paper towel, folded, under the printhead carriage and slide the carriage over the towel (you can do this when machine unplugged from mains)

4) With a wet piece of towel, squeeze a bit of water into the printhead of the colour which doesn't print properly. Gently wipe the surface of the printhead (the metal gauze bit)

5) Move the carriage back and forward over the towel. Then dampen this towel too, and pick up the ends to make it rub underneath the printhead (think of rubbing your back with a towel)

6) Blot everything dry, remove the towel, but don't let the printheads dry right out

7) Put the inks back in, slide the carriage back to where it should be; replace the inks

8)Turn the machine on. Run a cleaning cycle to get inks flowing again

9) Test print and hope! If not, try again!
