How Hard Is It To Replace A Hp Pavilion Slimline S3000 Motherboard?
Currently received an HP Pavilion slimline s3000 PC from my sister, which currently does not work. It turns on but nothing appears on the screen. I took it to Staples and in two minutes along with a $69.00 diagnostic charge they told me the motherboard was bad. They indicated they could get a new motherboard for $265 and install it for $70. I'm wondering if I should try to find a cheaper motherboard on the Internet and try to install it myself or at this point is it just cheaper to buy a new desk top. Thanks for your help in this matter.

Best to get a new computer. The motherboards in the slimline s3000 series were prone to video failure and shorting out.
I took the guts out of mine and put them in a new case with new motherboard and new power supply.
The original motherboard also uses a "mini" power connector that is exclusive to hp, so aftermarket motherboards won't work in this case with this power supply.
