Using Airprint On Wired Hp 8600

I hard-wired my HP 8600 to my cable-modem/wifi-router now how do I setup airprint to print from my iphone? iphone is connected to the same wifi-router as the printer, but iphone still cannot see the "airprint" printer. I've tried enabling the wireless direct on the printer - but I don't want to keep changing networks on my iphone just to print - and anyway it cannot connect to the printer's wifi (even though it appears on the list of iphone's wifi devices and I gave the security id)
