This Is A Brand New Printer. Printed Faded Red From Day One. Have
cleaned the heads to no effect.

I believe that this is related to the failure on the part of the ink cartridges installed. Since this is a brand new printer, I recommend that you claim for the warrant of your printer by returning it to the store. You may also purchase a new cartridge online.
