More Scanjet G3010 Difficulties
I have un-installed manually all the Scanjet files in the Add or Remove Programs window and re-installed using the original disk. I now find that when I open the program all that shows is Make Copies or Setting; no sign of Scan a Document, Scan a Picture or Scan Film. We seem to have a new problem !

I understand your frustration. I had a similar problem sometime back and I think it is something in the registry which is giving you an issue. Editing the registry is dodgy but providing you don't remove more than necessary you should be OK. One thing you could try is a system cleaner programme such as iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.html or iolo.com/downloads/download-system-mechanic/ I am not an agent for either. They offer a facility for finding unused registry entries. If you download the free versions and run the scan. You can then inspect the relevant entries that relate to the scanner. Some people say they do more harm than good and unused registry entries do no harm but if they intereact as yours appear to do then its a different case. If you use them carefully you should see an improvement. Give it a try and this will be something of a success if it works. Make sure you reboot after doing this as the registry is only read at boot-up. If you make changes to the registry they do not take immediate effect. Is there anyone else out there who've had a similar issue? We cannot be unique.

It relates to a different issue but may explain why you cannot install the software as you would like.
It suggests starting in safe mode after renaming the folder and copying the install software to the desktop. Then running the install.
