Do I need to buy a parallel to USB cable to connect a HP printer with a parallel port to the laptop

The answer is it depends on the type of printer you are using. You can use USB or Parallel cable depending on your printer. If you are using an old printer, most of these printers are connected in Parallel ports. However, modern types of printers usually require USB cables. These are the sample parallel and USB cables for your HP printer.
