Hp 1050 J410 Printer Connected, But Scanner Not Working

HP 1050 J410 PRINTER CONNECTED, BUT WHEN TAKE SCAN OPTION IT SHOWS PRINTER UNAVAILABLE, ALSO WHEN I TAKE THE PRINTER SHORT CUT IT ASKS TO CONNECT THE PRINTER, HOWEVER WHEN I GO THROUGH ALL PROGRAMMES THE PRINTER DIALOGUE BOX OPENS AND TEST PAGE GETS PRINTED
