In XP you need to select printers and faxes from the Start menu. Highlight the printer you want to remove and delete. You might also like to search for a folder called HP8500 or Hewlett Packard 8500 and delete the folder. These are the drivers. They will not be removed by deleting from the printer menu as they may be required in the future.
In Windows 7 you select Start, Devices & Printers select printer with single left click and select remove device from top menu.
