Question On What Operating System To Us And Ide Drives
seems it doesnt recognize the ide drive i put on it and tried to load xp , so is it best to put a sata drive in first then load xp or go with windows 7

The boards includes 1 IDE connector supporting ATA-133/100/66/33 and up to 2 IDE devices. It should work with any IDE hard disk meeting those specs.
XP should work fine.
I expect there may be settings in the BIOS that have the IDE controller set to the wrong mode. Make sure it's set properly and things should work. Find the settings on the adavance page or integrated devices setup.
