Freezer Compartment Frame Hot
My GE model GTL17JBSERBS is very hot in the front frame of the freezer compartment. The rest of the refrigerator is cool. What is causing this and how can it be corrected?

If the space between the doors is warmer than normal, there is a problem with the airflow over the condensing coil. First, remove the front grille below the door. Then use a brush and vacuum to clean the condenser coil. After the coil is clean feel for warm air blowing from the condenser fan. If you do not feel any air, the condenser fans probably not running.
To check the fan pull the refrigerator out from the wall and unplug it. Then remove the lower access panel.
Once the panel is removed, try to turn the fan blade by hand. If it turns free, plug the refrigerator in and see if it is turning. If the motor is not running a voltage check is required to confirm the motor is defective. If you have a meter and feel comfortable making live voltage checks, check the ac voltage to the motor. The reading should be at least 110 volts. If you have the voltage, the fan motor has to be replaced.
