Av23298 Modulator Light Come On But Goes Right Off

In order for the light to stay on, the video input cable (typically RCA yellow video composite, but probably alternatively S-Video) must be plugged in and the input device (VCR,DVD,etc) must be turned on. I know because i went so far as to disassemble my unit to check continuity and voltages, but since i couldn't find an apparent problem i bought a replacement unit. Then i thought i'd check existing unit out one more time... surprise it worked. Testing showed that if i unplugged or powered off the input devices, then the light went out JUST as it does if you only plug in the device without anything attached. Oh, well... now i'll have a spare.
